Vagabunda e’ malata di cuore, ha una valvola mitralica che non funziona, un cilindro pare che non abbia sufficiente compressione, non si riesce cosi’ a regolare il minimo. Cercheremo di portarla nella clinica di Luis Caldarola, a Buenos Aires, facendola affaticare il meno possibile. Oggi si e’ sciroppata 880 chilometri di rettilinei, deserti e pozzi di petrolio. Poi, prima dell’arrivo, non ha resistito al programma del test in circuito: un giro per stabilire il tempo base, quattro giri in cui ripetere il tempo del primo. Circa 80 di media, ma linee ampie. Abbiamo preso sei penalita’ in tutto (il terribile Rietbergen, primo nella nostra classe e secondo assoluto, ne ha prese sette…). Poi, siamo tornati nell’officina Ford che ci aveva ospitati anche cinque giorni fa. Hanno cambiato le candele, sostituito le puntine platinate, puliti tutti i getti del carburatore. Il meccanico ha fatto venire il capo-officina, tutti chini ad auscultare il cuore di Vagabunda. Poi il crudele responso: “Falta un cilindro”. Troppo tardi per sottoporla a qualsiasi intervento, se non quello di alzare il minimo: a 1.800 giri pare che la compressione ritorni. In hotel siamo stati accolti dai ballerini di tango e Rita -come Vagabunda quando vede un circuito- non ha resistito e si e’ esibita nella Cumparsita col tanghero ufficiale! Grande successo di pubblico e di critica, da quel momento e’ diventata per tutto il personale dell’hotel “la senora del tango”. Asado in autodromo, molto buono. Nanna.
RITA CUMPARSITA Vagabunda has heart trouble, one valve doesn’t work properly and the cylinder has not enough pressure. We will bring to Louis Cardarola in Buenos Aires trying to protect her. When we arrive in the hotel, we find tango dancers and Rita - like Vagabunda in front of a circuit – did not resist and started to dance Cumparsita. She got big success and since that moment she was for all hotel waiters “la senora del tango” (tango’s lady). Very good “asado” in autodrome for dinner. Then a good sleep.
